Who won the fashion Oscar?

Hi My Land Browsers,

So, as we all know, last night was held the 87th Academy Awards Ceremony, also known as the Oscars. All around the virtual world, people have been talking about it and expressing their opinions, so I thought I should too.
Everyone loves the magical movie world, with all its famous stars and its immense glamour. This night is the highlight of a year gone by and when we, common mortals, can reach a little bit closer to those stars and for a mere moment judge them. Let's be real, we girls, wait anxiously for this night, just to be able to point a finger at some dress choices, but also to dream with wearing the grand designers some day.
I've watched the whole ceremony, with some occasional dozing off, due to the time difference, and I've rated the dresses of the night, simply based on my personal opinion. So, and without further adieu, let's see some of the dresses that walked by the red carpet. Feel free to leave your own opinion in the comments, I really would love to read it.

Hope you like it ;)

Category I: I would beg to wear it, even die for it!

Gwyneth Paltrow - Ralph Russo
Anna Kendrick - Thakoon
Faith Hill - J. Mendel
Nancy O'Dell - Gauri & Nainika
Tracey Edmonds - not statted
Keleigh Sperry - Lorena Sarbu

Category II: I would so totally wear this! So chic!

Jessica Chastain - Givenchy
Meryl Streep - Lanvin
Margot Robbie - Saint Laurent
Lady Gaga - Alaia (minus the gloves!!!)
Rita Ora - Marchesa (her acting dress was equally beautiful)

Category III: I would recommend it to my dearest friends. And my mum!

Felicity Jones - Alexander McQueen
Viola Davis - Zac Posen
Anna Farris - Zuhair Murad
Rosamund Pike - Givenchy
Jennifer Hudson - Kezeva (her acting dress was a 8 for me)
Emma Stone - Elie Saab

Category IV: It's nice, it's ok, but it's no wau factor!

Reese Witherspoon - Tom Ford
Cate Blanchett - Margiela
Hannah Bagshame - Alexander McQueen (those side thingys take the wau out of it)
Zoe Saldana - Versace
Octavia Soencer - Tadashi Shoji
Dakota Johnsson - Saint Laurent
Sienna Miller - Oscar de la Renta
Jennifer Aniston - Versace

Category V: If I were you I would watch it, because you barely made the cut!

Julianne Moore - Chanel
Behati Prinsloo - Armani
Patricia Arquette - Rosetta Getty

Category VI: Oh ladies, we expected way more from you. Blah is all I got for you!

Nicole Kidman - Louis Vuitton (shinning but not in a good way!)
Marion Cotillard - Dior (are those suppose to be sleeves?)
Lupita Nyongo - Calvin Klein (pearls are not my thing!)
Scarlett Johansson - Versace (if you want a choker talk to her...)

Category VII: Would not want to see my worst enemy dressed in this! Or maybe...

Kerry Washington - Miu Miu (when I saw her walking, it was horror!)
Jennifer Lopez - Elie Saab (it's like she's wearing a puffy skin suit!)
Naomi Watts - Armani (follow the grey brick road...)
Keira Knightley - Valentino (some granny is looking for her curtains!)
Chrissy Teigen - Zuhair Murad (even her husband joked about a sneak peek...)

REMEMBER: This is only my personal opinion. I praise them all for being so confident to walk a
90 meters red carpet.

Now, about what the oscars are really all about.
  • Best supporting actor: J. K. Simmons for Whiplash
  • Best supporting actress: Patricia Arquette for Boyhood
  • Best leading actor: Eddie Redmayne for the Theory of Everything

Oscars count:
  1. The Grand Budapeste Hotel -  4 Oscars
  2. Birdman - 4 Oscars
  3. Whiplash -  3 Oscars

Did you agree with the academy winners or would you have chosen differently? Would you have included other nominees in the categories? Let me know all about it in the comments!

And that's a wrap...;)

XOXO
Maryanne C.
